It's a bird, its a plane! Holy Comic Book Project Batman!

Schoharie Crossing hosted Michael Bitz, founder and director of the Comic Book Project this past Wednesday.  The children participated in creative activities designed to get them to use their imaginations, writing and drawing skills.

Bitz started them off on some exercises in which they examined how characters in comics show expression and communicate in dialog or with narration.  Moving around the room, Bitz was energetic as he shared each child’s skills and ideas with everyone else thus creating a group effort in understanding the way one can express themselves through illustrations and writing.  Encouraging each child to think of ways to design their comic panels, he stated “there are no rules” and “you create what you want your character’s to be doing.”
Several of the children plan to work on their full length comics during the remainder of summer break or even after school starts in the next few weeks.  The kids where given the opportunity to have their activity books that were completed during the workshop scanned and uploaded to the Comic Book Project website that will also be shared through Schoharie Crossing and the NYS Parks outlets.
