Camillus on the Erie Canal with Lisa Wiles

Lisa Wiles is the Park Coordinator at the Liz & Dave Beebe Camillus Erie Canal Park. Before joining the Park Lisa enjoyed a 20+ year career in the not-for-profit world in the Western New York area, working in fundraising, education, and development for places like the Seneca Park Zoo, the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, Special Olympics, Junior Achievement and Children Awaiting Parents.  Lisa moved to the Central New York area after marrying her husband, Dan Wiles, owner of Mid-Lakes Navigation and Captain of the Emita II. Lisa became First Mate on the Emita II, ferrying and educating thousands of passengers up and down the waters of the Erie,50 Cayuga Seneca and Oswego Canals. 18 months ago, Lisa was appointed Park Coordinator at the Liz & Dave Beebe Camillus Erie Canal Park, its first full-time employee in 50 years.  As a Town of Camillus employee Lisa is the liaison between the government and not-for-profit bodies which maintain the Park. The Park features over 420 acres, 14 miles of trails, the restored 1842 Nine Mile Creek Aqueduct, an active boat sightseeing program and an education program which reached over 2,000 4th graders from May – September of this year.
