The 2023 NOT JUST FOR KIDS STORYTELLING Series is announced!

MARY MURPHY, Aug. 20thMurphy will perform, "Eating Wild & Other Tales of Love, Food, and Woodchucks!" She is known for her humorous and family stories served up in a Murphy Stew full of folktales and seasoned with original tales too! Mary Murphy will leave you hungry for more!

Mary Murphy has performed regionally at Proctors and Story Sundays, as well as at the National Storytelling Festival, the Hawaii Storytelling Festival, and the Clever Gretchen Storytelling Festival at Syracuse University. She has been a teacher/mentor for young storytellers in schools and in Children at the Well, an interfaith storytelling group in the Capital District. Her stories have been published in anthologies and magazines.

JOE DOOLITTLE, Sept. 3rdWe'll be in for a treat as Joe Doolittle shares with us stories of the sounds and strengths of engines, and the people who invented and worked with them. There will be the sounds of trains and tractors; canal tugs and cars; songs and perhaps a prayer.

Our storyteller Joe Doolittle, is a history buff, well versed in Mohawk Valley and Upstate History. He likes to weave personal and family incidents into his tales and often adapts folktales to deepen his themes. He’s an active member of www.storycircleatproctors.org and lives in Glenville, NY.

KAREN PILLSWORTH, Sept. 9th - Pillsworth will perform, "A Basketful of Stories," asking, what's in your basket? All of us go through life "collecting" our own stories and stories we love! Join us as Karen Pillsworth shares storied from her basket. There will be stories of hope and love, stories to make you laugh and cry, and just maybe, stories that will help you discover those within yourself.

Karen Sangaline Pillsworth has been sharing her stories with young and old alike for over 35 years. Her stories have taken her from Newfoundland, Canada to Sydney, Australia and lots of places in between. Whether she is telling on a stage floating on a lake in a cave, or at the top of a mountain, Karen delights her audience with folktales, historic tales, and personal stories. In 2002 she was named Storyteller Laureate of Kingston, NY in perpetuity. Returning to "school" in 2021 she recieved her Story Practitioner's Certificate from the Storytelling Schools of London.

No matter where she roams to share her stories, Karen's favorite place to tell is in her own hometown and her favorite words to hear... "That's Karen, she's OUR Storyteller!"

DEE & FRANK WIND, Oct. 15th - Dee Lee & Frank Wind to perform, "Anything Goes!" for our 2023 Not Just for Kids Storytelling event series. Stories old, stories new, stories borrowed, stories by two! Anything Goes! Tales to warm the cockles of your heart on a crisp fall evening.

-Dee Lee Wind is a professional storyteller with more than 30 years of experience sharing tales throughout the United States, the UK, and France. Her expressive arts training, as well as her background in drama, speech, and theatre, adds warmth, sensitivity and a dramatic flair to her storytelling.

-Frank Wind became a storyteller after retiring from his position as a researcher for a major oil company. His presentation skills are the culmination of more than 25 years of telling "stories" to management and to peers at professional conferences. He brings a fresh perspective to many of the old standards and is constantly writing new material to expand Frank-Lee Speaking's already extensive repertoire of solo and tandem traditional folktales and original stories.
